Ayrımcılık yapmakla suçlanan Sydney’de bir eğlence mekanı 21 yaşında bir kadından içeri girmesi için başörtüsünü çıkarmasını istedi.
Geçen Cuma gecesi yaşanan olayda arkadaş grubu ile eğlenmek için bir otelin barına girmeye çalışan genç kadın güvenlik görevlisi tarafından geri çevrildi.
Circular Quay bölgesindeki Paragon Hotelde yaşanan olay sonrası gazetecilere konuşan 21 yaşındaki Soaliha Iqbal, “kimliği verme gösterme sırası bana geldiğinde görevli daha kimliği alıp kontrol etmeden başörtümü işaret ederek çıkarmama istedi ve ‘çıkar şunu’ dedi.”
Olay anında şok geçirdiğini söyleyen Iqbal, görevlinin hala ısrarla çıkarmasını istediğini belirterek olay anını şu sözlerle anlattı; “Oradan ayrıldım. Sadece gözyaşları içinde yürüdüm. Ne yapacağımı bilemedim. Çevremizde, oldukça dehşete kapılmış insanlar vardı.”
Olayın, sosyal medya hesapların da yayınlanmasının ardından The Paragon Hoteli yayınladığı bildiride genç kadından özür diledi. Otel yönetimi savunmasında kamera da kimlik kontrolün daha iyi yapılabilmesi için başörtüsünün çıkarılması istendiğini açıkladı.
