Şekerli içeceklerden vergi almanın zamanı geldi mi?
Avustralya Tabipler Birliği, 85 ülke liderliğinin takip edilmesi ve şekere vergi getirilmesi çağrılarını yeniledi.
Avustralya Tabipler Birliği (AMA), Avustralya’nın küresel eğilimi takip ederek şekerle tatlandırılmış içeceklere vergi koyması gerektiğini söylüyor.
AMA başkan yardımcısı Danielle McMullen Cuma günü yaptığı açıklamada, Avustralyalıların her yıl 960 Olimpik yüzme havuzunu doldurmaya yetecek kadar şekerli içecek içtiklerini ve hükümetin insanların şeker bağımlılıklarını bırakıp bunun yerine suyu seçmelerine “yardım etmesi” gerektiğini söyledi.
Dr McMullen, federal hükümetin üreticilerin içeceklere kattığı her 100 gram şeker için 40 sent vergi uygulayabileceğini söyledi.
“Bu, normal bir kutu gazlı içeceğin fiyatında sadece 16 sentlik bir artış anlamına gelecek, ancak bunun için harika bir sağlık sonucu elde edeceksiniz” dedi.

Dr McMullen, “Dünya çapında 85 hükümetin şekerli içecekleri ve diğer ürünleri bu şekilde vergilendirmeyi seçmesi şaşırtıcı değil, çünkü kanıtlar bunun bu ürünlerin tüketimini azaltmada ve geliri artırmada etkili olduğunu gösteriyor, öyleyse neden Avustralya’da olmasın?”
ÇOCUKLARDA DİŞ ÇÜRÜĞÜ
Rapor, her 10 Avustralyalı çocuktan dördünün süt dişlerinde diş çürüğü olduğunu vurgulamakta.
Çürükler, ağız bakterileri şekerleri metabolize ederek diş minesini ve dentini yiyip bitiren asit ürettiğinde gelişir.
