Research has found that taking holidays can help mental and physical health in a variety of ways by:
• Reducing stress which may prevent the onset of a variety of other health conditions such as depression, anxiety and obesity;
Although it is good to work, not taking any time off may pose certain problems to an individual’s health and wellbeing and may even lead to burnout. Working too much and limiting time for your self have significant physical and mental health consequences including psychological symptoms of stress and physical symptoms related to burnout. Consequently, this can lead to low mood, low levels of self-confidence, feelings of self-worthlessness, anxiety and depression. Furthermore, the lack of taking time off may lead to individuals feeling overwhelmed, uninspired, lose motivation which may impact the relationship between family and friends and causing disconnection. However, many of these negative aspects may be prevented by taking a short holiday when possible which may be beneficial in the long run.

Taking a holiday is important for an individual’s wellbeing from a psychological, physical and social aspect, therefore; it is recommended to take a short holiday when possible not to miss out on the benefits that come with it.
It is also important to remember that: when we have a clear and healthy mind, we are also able to achieve a healthy body.
